Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata (4S) Campaign
Context:
- The Ministry of Steel, in collaboration with SAIL and the Prithak Foundation, successfully launched the “Swabhav Swachhata, Sanskaar Swachhata (4S) Campaign” as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 initiative.
- This event took place at the Govt. Boys/Girls Sr. Sec. School in Harkesh Nagar, Okhla Phase-2.

- This year’s campaign, highlighted by the Prime Minister on Independence Day.
- Emphasises that cleanliness has become a vital part of daily life, promoting significant behavioural changes across the country.
- The theme, Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata (4S), focuses on fostering this change through three pillars:
- Swachhata Ki Bhaagidari (Public participation, awareness, and advocacy activities for Swachh Bharat)
- Sampoorna Swachhata (Mega cleanliness drives and transformation of Cleanliness Target Units (CTUs) in difficult areas)
- Safai Mitra Suraksha Shivir (Camps for health checkups and welfare of sanitation workers)
Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign Overview
- Launch: Initiated by the Prime Minister from the Red Fort on August 15, 2014, with the Swachh Bharat Mission officially launched on October 2, 2014.
- Purpose: A mega campaign to promote behaviour change and public participation for a clean nation, leading up to Swachh Bharat Diwas on October 2, 2024, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
- Campaign Duration: From September 17 to October 2, 2024.
- Theme: ‘Swabhav Swachhata Sanskaar Swachhata (4S)’, focusing on integrating cleanliness into daily habits and cultural practices.
- Significance: This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Swachh Bharat Mission, emphasising the importance of cleanliness in daily life.
