About:
- Rana Sanga, also known as Maharana Sangram Singh, was a prominent Rajput ruler of the Sisodia dynasty in Mewar, which is now part of Rajasthan, India.
- Rana Sanga is renowned for his bravery, leadership, and military prowess, which enabled him to expand his kingdom significantly during his reign.
Contributions in Consolidating His Empire:
- Military Campaigns: He successfully defeated several neighboring sultanates, including the Delhi Sultanate, Malwa Sultanate, and Gujarat Sultanate, in numerous battles. This helped him expand his domain across present-day Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.
- For example, he won the Battle of Khatoli (1517) against Ibrahim Lodi, capturing strategic territories and establishing Rajput dominance in northwestern India.
- He also invaded Gujarat in 1520, defeating the Gujarat forces under Nizam Khan and capturing Northern Gujarat.
- Unification of Rajput States: Rana Sanga formed alliances and united various Rajput clans, creating a powerful confederacy that resisted external threats.
